Online databases are available 24 hours a day via the internet on your home or work computer. To access the databases just click on the links and enter your GippsTAFE student number and password. Alternatively we offer a gateway to online databases at My GippsTAFE from the library section of the portal under 24/7 online databases or from our Library Guides.

Academic Search Premier

A multi-disciplinary database with access to full-text, academic journals, magazines, reports, books, trade publications and other resources. Subject coverage includes biology, chemistry, engineering, geography, language and linguistics, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, religion and theology.

ANZ Ref Centre

Australia/NZ Reference Centre provides online access to full text leading Australia/NZ magazines, newspapers and newswires and reference books. It contains more than 80,000 full text biographies, 293,480 photos, maps and flags

Art & Architecture Complete

Access images, books and periodicals, many in full text, across a wide variety of subjects including antiques, art and art history, archaeology, architecture and architectural history, costume design, decorative arts, graphic arts, interior and landscape design and photography. 

Atomic Learning

An online database of short, easy to understand video tutorials to support the use of a wide range of popular software applications.
Atomic Learning is designed to give “just in time” answers to your questions about how to use and apply software tools.
Two levels are available:
Student access - for the complete database of tutorials
Staff access - for additional educator’s tools and features

Australian Standards Online

Standards On-Line Premium provides full access to over 7,700 national Australian Standards. GippsTAFE library subscribes to a single user licence. If the message "All AS licences currently in use" is displayed someone else will be using the database you should try again shortly.

BCA Illustrated

BCA Illustrated provides access to Volumes 1 and 2 of an online version of the Building Code of Australia with over 3000 illustrations and explanations, and over 15,000 reference links and guides. GippsTAFE library subscribes to a single concurrent user licence for BCA Illustrated. If the database is already in use, you will need to wait for the current user to log off before it becomes available. 

Business Source Complete

Offers searchable cited references for more than 1,300 journals in the disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. Additional full-text, non-journal content includes financial data, books, monographs, major reference works, conference proceedings, case studies, investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses, faculty seminars (videos), and more.

Computers and Applied Sciences Complete

Covers the research and development spectrum of the computing and applied sciences disciplines. This database contains knowledge on traditional engineering challenges & research, and is a resource for research on the business and social implications of new technology. Full text is available for more than 1,000 periodicals. Subject areas include the many engineering disciplines, computer theory and systems, new technologies, and social and professional context.

CINAHL - Nursing & Allied Health

CINAHL Plus with Full Text is a comprehensive nursing and allied health research database offering more than 640 full text journals, 220 full text books and has coverage dating back to 1937. In CINAHL you can search for, view, print, email or save full text documents. View full list of titles.

ebrary

Ebrary is a collection of over 75,000 full text electronic books across a wide range of subject areas. You can read, print, cut and paste text from books (within copyright restrictions). If you register, you can make notes within books, create a personal bookshelf and download books to read offline.

ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center

Provides access to education literature and resources with more than 323,000 full-text documents.  ERIC  has information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index.

GreenFile

GreenFILE covers human impact to the environment across a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology. Topics include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations, local and national governments, and what can be done at each level to minimise these effects. GreenFILE provides abstract only access for 384,000 records, as well as full text for more than 4,700 records.

Hospitality & Tourism Complete

Covers research and industry news relating to all areas of hospitality and tourism. This collection spans subjects including: culinary arts, demographics and statistics, development and investment, food and beverage management, hospitality law, hotel management and administrative practices, leisure and business travel, market trends and technology. Sources are international in range and scope, with material collected from countries and regions such as the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia.

The Joanna Briggs Institute EBP Database on OvidSP

Search simultaneously a comprehensive range of resources for healthcare professionals in nursing, midwifery, medicine, and allied health, including: Evidence Based Recommended Practices, Evidence Summaries, Best Practice Information Sheets, Systematic Reviews, Consumer Information Sheets, Systematic Review Protocols, and Technical Reports.

Montie - Health & Safety Videos 

Montie is the entire collection of Safetycare’s Health & Safety videos. There are 79 titles available to view on your PC . When on-site, select the Montie icon in your NAL applications window, choose a category from the Montie menu, then a video title. No username or password required if on-site.
Off-site access to Montie is now available for students and staff.  Instructions  here (login required).
Teachers can also obtain a Montie DVD for off-campus use.

MSDS Australia

MSDS is an Australian online database of NOHSC compliant material safety data sheets. Please contact the library staff for a Username and Password

The Teacher Reference Center

Provides indexing and abstracts for 280 popular teacher and administrator journals and magazines to assist professional educators. Topics include: assessment, best practices, continuing education, current pedagogical research, curriculum development, elementary education, higher education, instructional media, language arts, literacy standards, school administration, science & mathematics, and teacher education.

Vocational Studies Complete

Access full-text journals and books on subjects as wide-ranging as: alcohol & drug abuse counseling, audiology, biotechnology, computer & data processing, CAD, cosmetology, electrical technology, fashion design, forensics, graphic arts, health information technology, interior design, law enforcement & criminal justice, paralegal studies, robotics, travel & tourism, veterinary assisting, and dozens more. Vocational Studies Complete offers information from many sources that are unique to this database.
