Course Overview

Combining work with travel is a great way to see the world, and a career in the tourism industry is a good starting point. This high level course will give you the knowledge, skills and professional practices needed to get a job in the tourism industry. This course will prepare you for work as a travel agent, tour guide, consultant, attractions officer, or tourism information manager. You will also have the opportunity to obtain skills suitable for work in the hospitality industry.

Entry Requirements

  • Successful completion of Year 12 or mature age with industry experience. All applicants must submit a pre-selection form, attend an interview and successfully complete a numeracy, literacy and general knowledge test. Please contact the Tourism Department by telephoning (03) 5120 4572 for further information. Applicants must apply through VTAC for the Diploma of Tourism, or direct to the department for mature age entry.
  • All applicants who are adding the course at Change of Preference must also telephone the Tourism Department in order to receive further information about submitting a pre-selection form and attending a selection interview. These additional interviews will be conducted in mid December and mid January.

  • Monash University - Bachelor of Business and Commerce
    On successful completion of the Diploma of Tourism, students are eligible for guaranteed credits into the Bachelor of Business and Commerce at Monash University - Gippsland Campus.
  • All applications must be made through VTAC prior to the completion of the Diploma of Tourism. All applicants for the Bachelor of Business and Commerce must liaise with the Monash contact in the School of Business and Economics.
