Seeking a career with the Victoria Police?
GippsTAFE can help you prepare for the police entrance exam. This night course runs over 6 consecutive weeks.
Our next course commences on 9th October. It is anticipated that there will be a large number of enrolments into this course. Due to limited spaces available, it is recommended that you enrol into the course well ahead of the commencement date. Please see “how to apply” below for further details.

What you will learn
In this course you will revise your strategies and skills in the following areas:
- Reasoning ability
This course is attached to English and Maths based units from the Certificate of General Education for Adults. You will be enrolled into those units as they will cover the skills needed to prepare you for the Polic Entrance Exam.
How To Apply to the Police Entrance Exam Preparatory Course
Direct to Institute: you can apply for this course at any one of our GippsTAFE campuses. You will need to complete the full enrolment form (NOT the short course enrolment form), and you will need to present sufficient identification (e.g. driver’s licence, Medicare card) and concession card (if applicable). Payment must be made at time of enrolment. Please retain your receipt and bring it to your first class as proof of enrolment.
Information about how to apply for the Police Entrance Exam
Generally, a few weeks after the course, there is an exam held at one of the GippsTAFE campuses. You can elect to sit the exam at any venue.
GippsTAFE cannot enrol any student into the police exam. The first step in applying to sit the exam is completing an application form via the police recruitment website: http://www.policecareer.vic.gov.au/ Using this website you will check your eligibility and you will submit an application for the exam. After you application has been reviewed, you receive an email confirmation from the Police, with instructions about how to proceed from there.
