GippsTAFE Privacy Statement

GippsTAFE is committed to complying with Victorian Information Privacy legislation by ensuring the privacy of your personal information. Personal information, broadly defined, is any information from which your identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained.

Collection of Information: GippsTAFE collects personal information (including contact name and details, employment status and details, education, language, cultural diversity, and health information) in the context of maintaining student records, providing counseling and support services, as a prerequisite to employment, course entry or service provision where applicable, and to fulfill our obligation to provide statistical and other information to government agencies.

The Institute is committed to ensuring that all personal information is collected with your informed consent.

Use of Information: Personal information provided by you will only be used by the Institute for the purposes for which it was collected. It will not be disclosed to third parties without your informed prior consent except where it is required by law or other regulation. Personal information of enrolled students and individual customers may also be provided to government agencies for the purposes of statistical management or conduct of surveys.

Access to Information: You have the right to access any of the personal information GippsTAFE has collected about you. Access to information held by the Institute is via a written Freedom of Information request to the Principal Officer, Freedom of Information at the address below, with the exception of employee records, which may be accessed directly.

Online Privacy: Many of the Institute webpages use “cookies” (text files placed in your computer’s browser to store your preferences) and certain parts of some of our sites can only be accessed by persons who provide personal information to gain access to the site offerings. GippsTAFE will maintain appropriate physical, electronic and management procedures to safeguard personal information obtained via Institute websites. This privacy statement does not extend beyond GippsTAFE. If you link to other websites via the Institute website we recommend that you read the privacy policy of that site prior to continuing.
