Music move pays off

Every cloud, as they say, has a silver lining and that was exactly the case for GippsTAFE’s Music Academy students and lunchtime patrons at Morwell’s Top Pub this week.

The students were scheduled to undertake a public performance in Commercial Road Morwell over lunchtime as part of their course and to promote their talents, but the rain tumbling from the clouds above put paid to that.

Instead, at short notice, the Top Pub agreed to provide its venue as an undercover alternative.

It was a pleasant surprise for diners, who were entertained with live music from jazz to heavy metal and light pop. Quite a few even stayed a bit longer than normal to enjoy the entertainment! The opportunity to play to a live audience was also an important part of the students’ program.

The GippsTAFE Music Academy can often be seen around the community entertaining and promoting their courses in Certificate III in Music through to Advanced Diploma in Music, with a new intake commencing in July.
