GippsTAFE student, Stephanie Dalton announced as a finalist in the 2011 Victorian Training Awards!

Stephanie Dalton has been honoured as a finalist in the Victorian Koorie Student of the Year award for the 2011 Victorian Training Awards.

After developing an interest in child development while raising her two children, Stephanie completed a Diploma of Childcare at GippsTAFE. Stephanie now works at the Gunai Lidj Multifunctional Aboriginal Services Centre and is a member of the Dala Lidj Kindergarten board.

The 2011 Victorian Training Awards, hosted by Skills Victoria, are the premier event on the TAFE and training calendar.

Now in their 57th year, the Awards recognise excellence and innovation, and celebrate the valuable contribution apprentices, students, teachers, employers, and training providers play in ensuring our state has a strong skills base - now and in the future.

“On behalf of GippsTAFE I would like to congratulate Stephanie. This is an amazing achievement and demonstrates the opportunities available for students, apprentices, and trainees via vocational education and training,” GippsTAFE CEO Dr Peter Whitley said.

“We would also like to recognise all the students and teachers who submitted applications” said Dr. Whitley.

“Participation in the awards is a valuable experience. Just by taking part, nominees have gained recognition for outstanding achievements and increased their profile. Everyone who participated has also benefited from networking opportunities with senior industry and business leaders.”

The 2011 Victorian Training Awards will be held on Friday 2 September at the Palladium at Crown. Tickets will be on sale via the Skills Victoria website in July.
