Free wash and style for Fairview Village residents
A lucky group of five Fairview Village residents visited GippsTAFE’s Warragul Campus recently to enjoy a free morning of pampering. The ladies were treated to morning tea before having their hair washed and styled by local VET in Schools students.
Teacher, Melanie Ovenden, contacted Fairview Village to invite the residents along for the day.
“It’s a great opportunity for the students to give back to the community and practice their skills in a real client environment. There is real value in this kind of experience, it can be a real confidence booster for students” she said.
“We would like to say a big thank you to the ladies for joining us on the day. We were thrilled to hear they were delighted with the final results!”
Fairview Village Lifestyle Manager, Lois Tarrant, would also like to thank the wonderful students from GippsTAFE on behalf of residents who all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being pampered and so well looked after by GippsTAFE students.
“The opportunity for inclusion in experiences such as what was provided by the students from GipsTAFE is greatly appreciated by our community,” said Ms Tarrant.
The GippsTAFE Hairdressing Department would like to extend an invitation to other community groups who might like to take advantage of this free service. For more information or to register your interest please phone the Warragul Campus on 5622 8500.
